About Saskia
Saskia Wheeler works for a well-being company in Berlin addressing how workplace environments impact mental health and wellbeing. The intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and design helps to craft environments and experiences that enhance psychological well-being. Learn more about her fascinating work here.

For 30,000 years our species created music, scents, artworks, and ritual dances. Not just as expressions of culture, creativity, and uniqueness, but as a feature that’s been woven into the fiber of our emotional and cognitive evolution since long before we could read or write. Neuroaesthetics examines how the human desire for beauty and richness in sensory experience, across art, music, nature, dance, design, and architecture, measurably changes our brain, body, and behaviour.

NeuroArt Inspirations for This Month
As we have a theme of neuroaesthetics this month, Saskia Wheeler shared with us these inspirations.
🧠 Your Brain on Art

Susan Magsamen, Director of the NeuroArts Blueprint, and Ivy Ross, Head of Design at Google, co-authored a brilliant book last year exploring how art measurably changes the brain and body. It’s a fascinating look into the field of neuroaesthetics — offering compelling research on how engaging with the arts can support health, well-being, and healing.
🎧 Podcast Pick – The Anxious Generation: How Tech Affected a Generation
In this episode from last year, Saskia explores how screens and social media are rewiring our brains — and what we can do about it. In the episode, she shares insights into how reconnecting with nature, creativity, and time away from tech can restore attention, wellbeing, and social connection.
